Step 7. Asking God to remove our shortcomings. We determined what they are in steps 4-6, and now we ask God to remove them. We know we are loved children of God, as stated in Scriptures. My favorite verse is Zephaniah 3:17 (ESV) which says, "The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing." Did you catch that? He loves us so much he sings loudy because of us! So amazing! Even still, we ask God to forgive us, not because he hasn't forgiven us already, but because it helps us to remember that we are forgiven, so we can feel free and forgive ourselves (see Galatians 5:16-17). Then we can move on toward a joyful life in Christ Jesus, living our lives for the one who set us free.
