Many clients sincerely want to stop overeating — yet they keep returning to the same patterns. Why is lasting change so difficult?

Many counselors work with clients who feel discouraged and ashamed about their relationship with food. These individuals often want to change and may have tried countless diets or strategies, yet they continue to struggle with cravings, emotional eating, and repeated setbacks.

Overeating is rarely just about food. Emotional stress, deeply ingrained habits, shame, and the addictive nature of sugar and highly-processed foods can make change far more difficult than many people realize. In addition, recovery programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Overeaters Anonymous have long recognized that lasting change often involves a spiritual component.

In Reshape and Recover, we approach recovery from a Christ-centered perspective, integrating biblical principles, community support, and the structure of the 12 Steps to help individuals experience lasting freedom from compulsive overeating.

This webinar is designed to support the work counselors are already doing by helping you better understand the challenges your clients face and offering practical insights for supporting lasting change.

In this webinar, you will learn:

  • Why many clients who struggle with overeating feel stuck even when they sincerely want to change

  • The emotional, behavioral, and spiritual factors that often drive compulsive eating

  • The addictive nature of sugar and highly-processed foods and how they influence cravings and eating patterns

  • How spiritual principles used in recovery programs can support lasting change

  • Practical ways counselors can support clients dealing with shame, cravings, and discouragement around food

How Reshape and Recover Supports the Work of Counselors

Reshape and Recover is designed to complement the work counselors are already doing, not replace it.

Many individuals struggling with overeating benefit from both professional counseling and a structured recovery community that addresses daily eating behaviors, accountability, and spiritual support.

Our program provides:

• A Christ-centered 12-Step recovery framework
• Weekly support meetings
• Community with others pursuing freedom from compulsive overeating
• Practical tools for managing cravings and developing balanced eating patterns

Counseling can help individuals address deeper emotional and relational issues, while recovery support provides the daily structure, accountability, and community many people need to sustain change.

When used together, these approaches can provide powerful support for individuals seeking lasting freedom from compulsive overeating.
