Step 1 is about admitting that you have a problem with food. It took me a couple of years to truly believe that I was powerless over food. In a way, I knew it was true, yet for some reason, I thought I needed to control it. Sugar has been proven to be addictive, and you can't control an addiction—at least not without God's help and the 12 Steps.
