Step 12

You may think Step 12 means you have to be fully recovered before you can help anyone else.

But that’s not how it works.

Step 12 says that after experiencing a spiritual awakening, we carry the message to others and practice these principles in all our affairs.

That doesn’t mean perfection.

It means progress.

It means:

• Sharing our stories honestly, not impressively

• Pointing people to what helped you, not to yourself

• Living the principles daily—especially when it’s inconvenient

In recovery from overeating, Step 12 reminds us of something powerful:

👉 Freedom grows when it’s shared.

👉 Healing deepens when we stop hiding.

👉 God often uses our weakest places to help someone else feel less alone.

You don’t need a platform.

You don’t need the right words.

You just need willingness—and God does the rest.

If you want a clear, Christ-centered explanation of all 12 Steps—especially how they apply to food and overeating—I walk through them step by step in my book, 12 Steps to Recovery from Overeating.
