Sunday Devotion

Open Bible, text from Psalm 119:105, on a wooden table beside a closed Bible with a cross. A green teacup and glass jar are nearby. Warm lighting.

Luke 1:78-79 (ESV) Because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

In these verses, Zechariah is prophesying about how God will come to us; quiet and gentle like a sunrise. He comes to those “who sit in darkness” – not because we have earned it, but because He loves us.

He shows us the way to peace one step at a time. We need only to trust and follow His light.

Dear Lord, thank You for coming down from Heaven to be a light to me toward peace. Help me to trust the path You show me and to follow You through the dark times until I am with You in Heaven for all eternity.
