Sunday Devotion

Matthew 19:26 But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

In this text, Jesus had just told a very rich young man who had claimed to have kept all of God’s commandments since birth, that he needed to sell everything and give to the poor. Not because this was a requirement for salvation, but to show him that he had not kept all the commandments from birth. Jesus’ disciples heard this and asked who could be saved because they knew no one is perfect according to God’s standards. Jesus’ reply reminds us that salvation is a free gift from God, and that through the power and grace of God, we are saved. This same God can help us with all things, even food addiction. We pray for that trust in the One who saves.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank you that I can trust you. I believe that you are faithful and true. I know that with your help I can make plans and make good decisions for my life and I surrender fully to your will for my life. Thank you and Amen.
