1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
It can sometimes be a struggle to be loving and patient – especially when it seems we are not getting our fair share. It’s not wrong to want good things and God wants that for us too. I’ve heard it said that life isn’t always fair and felt the pain of that truth. How we deal with life when things don’t seem fair can be the difference between making a situation better or worse. When we answer patiently with kind words, we often find situations can turn around for the better. Choosing patience and kindness over harshness and anger makes consequences easier to live with. Keeping stress levels down in this way can be very helpful in avoiding stress eating.
Dear Lord, Thank you for your patience with me when I’m struggling to live patiently myself. Please fill me with your wisdom and knowledge so that I can make healthy and good decisions in how I eat, work, play, and rest.
Most importantly, thank you for your Amazing Grace and forgiveness toward us as we struggle to live well in your everlasting love today. Amen
