Breaking the Cycle of Overeating

Red background features "The Food Addiction Cycle" diagram with steps: stressors, trigger food, relief, discomfort, shame, and compulsion.

Many people who struggle with overeating feel trapped in a pattern they don’t fully understand.

They sincerely want to stop.

They promise themselves they’ll do better next time.

Yet somehow the same behaviors keep returning.

Over time, this cycle can bring a lot of frustration, shame, and discouragement.

For many people, overeating isn’t simply about food or lack of discipline. It often follows a predictable cycle driven by stress, cravings, temporary relief, and the emotional and physical aftermath that follows.

That’s one reason dieting and willpower alone often fail. The deeper drivers behind overeating are rarely addressed by simply trying harder.

Through Reshape and Recover, my husband Tony (a counselor of more than 25 years) and I help people address the deeper roots of overeating using a Christ-centered recovery approach based on the 12 Steps. Our program combines practical recovery principles, supportive community, and faith-based guidance to help people experience lasting change.

If you’re ready to stop fighting this battle alone, you’re invited to join our supportive community and begin your journey toward freedom.
