What if the freedom you long for isn’t found in more willpower… but in deeper surrender?
We celebrate freedom every July 4th — but for many of us, true freedom still feels out of reach. We struggle with food, guilt, shame, and the exhausting cycle of starting over again and again.
In this episode of the Reshape and Recover podcast, we’re talking about freedom from overeating — and how you can actually begin to walk in it. Real, lasting food freedom doesn’t come from white-knuckling our way through another diet. It comes from walking daily with God, supported by structure, prayer, and the emotional healing that takes place when we stop hiding and start growing.
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free…” — Galatians 5:1
When we begin to build our recovery on that truth, everything changes. Our identity is no longer rooted in our weight or willpower but in Christ. Through the 12-step process, we’re invited into healing — emotionally, spiritually, and physically. We don’t have to carry the shame. We don’t have to stay stuck in the past. And we don’t have to do this alone.
In this episode, Julie and Tony share:
Biblical encouragement to help you stay grounded and hopeful
Practical ways to stay consistent with food and faith
Why isolation is a red flag and how to reconnect
A reminder that true freedom isn’t about doing whatever we want — it’s about walking in God’s strength
