How Much Time Does Recovery Really Take?

Woman writing a meal plan at the kitchen table, with text showing how little time recovery habits take each week, including food planning, prayer, and support meetings.
Recovery doesn’t take all your time — just a small, intentional part of it.

Sometimes life feels completely full — we’re caring for others, managing work, and juggling endless responsibilities. It’s easy to believe there’s no margin left to focus on our own healing.

But what if lasting change didn’t require as much time as we think?

Recovery doesn’t mean your whole life has to stop. In fact, the habits that lead to peace with food and a healthier walk with God can fit right into your real-world schedule — and they take far less time than you might expect.

Let’s break it down:

🛒 Weekly grocery list & food plan: 5–10 minutes

Just a few minutes once a week can save you from last-minute decisions or impulsive choices that derail your goals.

📓 Daily food planning each morning: 10 minutes

This small act of intention brings clarity and confidence to your day. You’ll feel more in control and less reactive around food.

🙏 Prayer before meals: 2 minutes × 3 meals = 6 minutes/day

That’s just 18 minutes total per day to pause, pray, and invite God into your choices. A powerful rhythm of surrender and peace.

🤝 Support meeting: 1 hour per week

One hour to connect, be encouraged, and be reminded that you’re not alone on this journey.

In total? That’s about 2 to 2.5 hours per week — a little over 1% of the time God gives you each week.

But the return is enormous:

 ✨ Less shame

 ✨ More peace

 ✨ Better health

✨ A stronger relationship with God

You don’t need to overhaul your life. You just need a plan that works with your life — and a community to walk it out with you.
