Navigating the Diet Cycle Loop

Have you ever lost weight, only to gain it back again?
You start another diet, make some progress, and feel hopeful. But eventually, you return to your old eating habits, and the weight comes back.
And then you start the process all over again.
Proverbs 26:11 (NIV) says:
"As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly."
That's a pretty graphic picture, isn't it? But it makes an important point.
If we keep returning to the same behaviors, why would we expect different results?
For years, I thought the answer was finding a better diet. But what I really needed was a different approach.
I needed to address WHAT I was eating and WHY I kept returning to the foods and behaviors that caused me so much trouble.
That's where recovery made the difference.
Through the 12 Steps and my relationship with Jesus Christ, I found a way to make lasting changes. I've maintained a 90-pound weight loss for more than 18 years.
If you've been caught in the cycle of losing and regaining weight, perhaps it's time to try something different.

Oh boy does this resonate with me. I did this with alcohol. I know God is the only reason I was finally saved from 40 years of alcohol abuse. I also know God is with me now and can do the same. I just need to get out of His way!!!
