Planning Over Willpower

Julie writes in a meal-planning notebook at a table while a fluffy cat watches from the windowsill; text reads DAILY MEAL PLANNING KEEPS YOU ON TRACK

One of the simplest habits that helped me stop overeating had nothing to do with willpower.

In reality, it's about surrender.

When we don't have a plan, we're much more likely to let our emotions, cravings, or circumstances make our food decisions.

Planning ahead simply means deciding while we're thinking clearly instead of waiting until we're tired, stressed, or hungry.

Proverbs 21:5 says:

*"The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance..."* (ESV)

Creating a simple food plan isn't about being perfect. It's about asking God for wisdom, making one decision at a time, and trusting Him to help you follow through.

Your plan doesn't have to be complicated.

Just ask yourself:

✅ What will I eat for breakfast?

✅ What will I eat for lunch?

✅ What will I eat for dinner?

✅ Do I need a planned snack?

Then pray:

*"Lord, help me honor You with these choices today. Give me strength to follow through, one meal at a time."*

Recovery isn't won by willpower.

It's strengthened by prayer, preparation, and depending on God—one meal at a time.

**Do you usually decide what you're going to eat ahead of time, or do you wait until you're hungry?**
