Planning vs. Controlling

Is your planning helpful, or are you trying to control the outcome?

In recovery, planning is important — especially when certain foods trigger cravings and old patterns. But sometimes planning quietly shifts into trying to control everything. We plan every bite, every situation, every possible outcome… and instead of feeling peaceful, we feel anxious, pressured, and exhausted.

Tony and I talk about this in our latest podcast episode — the difference between healthy, God-honoring planning and fear-based control. Because there is a difference, and it affects not only our peace, but often our eating.

We share practical ways to plan meals and prepare for cravings while staying flexible, how to recognize when control is taking over, and what surrender really looks like in everyday recovery — not giving up responsibility, but doing your part faithfully and trusting God with the rest.

If you’ve been feeling worn out from trying to manage food and life on your own, this episode will encourage you. You don’t have to hold everything together by yourself.
