Press On to Know the Lord

Raindrops on glass with blurred city lights. Text reads "PRESS ON to know the Lord." Mood is reflective. Website: reshapeandrecover.com.

Have you ever felt like you’re trying to do better… but keep falling back into the same patterns?

That can be discouraging.

But Hosea 6:3 gives us a different focus:

“Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord;

his going out is sure as the dawn;

he will come to us as the showers,

as the spring rains that water the earth.” (ESV)

Basically, the point is… keep going—but not just to fix yourself.

Keep going to know the Lord.

It’s easy to make our focus:

Trying harder

Doing better

Fixing our habits

But this verse redirects us.

The goal isn’t just behavior change.

The goal is relationship.

“Let us press on to know the Lord.”

That means:

Turning to Him in the struggle

Seeking Him when we feel weak

Coming back to Him again and again

Even after a hard day.

Even after a setback.

And here’s the beautiful promise:

“His going out is sure as the dawn.”

Just like the sun rises every morning—

God is faithful.

He shows up.

He doesn’t disappear when we struggle.

He meets us as we come to Him.

And it says He comes “like the rain.”

Rain doesn’t usually come all at once in a flood.

It comes steadily… and over time, it brings growth.

That’s how God works in us.

Not always instantly.

But faithfully.

Gently.

Consistently.

So if you’re struggling right now—whether it’s with overeating, habits, or something else—

The answer isn’t just to try harder.

It’s to press on to know Him.

Talk to Him.

Turn to Him.

Come back again.

Not perfectly…

but consistently.

Because as you grow in knowing Him,

real change begins to follow.
