Step 9. This is where we make amends to people we have hurt. God calls us to do this in His Word. Matthew 5:9 (NIV) says "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." We receive blessings as we make the way for peace in our relationships with others. God's word also says in Matthew 5:23-24 (NIV) "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift." God also says in Romans 12:18 (NIV) "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peae with everyone." It pleases him and helps us live happier lives. Once the relationships are repaired (as much as it is in our power to do), we have removed some of the emotions that can lead to overeating and other mental health issues. Prayer before taking this step is essential.
