Shrimp and rice — a simple, satisfying meal that supports your recovery and takes the stress out of healthy eating.

Shrimp & Rice: A Simple, Satisfying Recovery Meal

This easy shrimp and rice combo is one of our go-to meals — and the best part? It’s only about 350 calories for the whole plate! It’s light, packed with protein, and easy to prepare.

But in our kitchen, we’ve discovered that even simple meals can spark a little friendly debate. 😉

I (Julie) like my rice on top of the shrimp — it helps everything blend together, and I get a little bit of shrimp, rice, and veggies in every bite.

Tony prefers the rice on the side, nice and separated. He says it helps him slow down and be more intentional with his portions.

It’s a good reminder that there’s no one right way to build a healthy plate. What matters most is choosing foods that support your recovery — meals that are nourishing, satisfying, and don’t leave you feeling deprived.

In recovery, structure and planning are key. Meals like this help you:

  • Stay on track with your food plan

  • Avoid last-minute, emotion-driven eating

  • Fuel your body with real, whole foods

And yes, meals can still be enjoyable! Adding variety (even in how you arrange your plate) can make food feel less like a chore and more like self-care.

When your meals are predictable and satisfying, it becomes easier to stay consistent — especially on busy or emotional days. Food decisions don’t have to feel overwhelming. Sometimes, it’s the simple meals that bring the most peace and stability.

So now we’re curious — how do YOU prefer your shrimp and rice?

Are you Team A (rice on top) or Team B (rice on the side)?
