Have you ever had a day where you felt off — maybe you snapped at someone, skipped your prayer time, or gave in to food when you weren’t hungry — and then felt that weight of guilt or frustration afterward? Those moments can quietly pile up until we feel disconnected from God and from our recovery.
I’ve had those days too. I remember one evening when I realized I’d been on edge all day. I hadn’t overeaten, but my heart was restless. When I sat down with my journal and asked God to show me what was going on, I saw it clearly: I had been holding on to resentment from an earlier conversation. I prayed, released it to Him, and instantly felt peace again. That’s the power of Step 10.
Step 10 helps us stay spiritually fit every day. Instead of letting resentments, stress, or slip-ups build up, it invites us to pause, review our actions, make amends where needed, and thank God for what went right. It’s like doing a quick heart check with the Holy Spirit — keeping us clean and close to Him.
As I write in my book 12 Steps to Recovery from Overeating:
“We can’t do this on our own. But with God’s help, we can live free from compulsive overeating — one day, and one step, at a time.” — Julie Kleinhans
In this week’s episode of the Reshape and Recover Podcast (RR79), Tony and I talk about:
✅ How Step 10 prevents relapse by addressing problems quickly
✅ Practical ways to review your day with prayer, journaling, or the SOAP method
✅ Key Scriptures that encourage daily self-examination (2 Corinthians 13:5, Lamentations 3:40, Psalm 25:4)
✅ The daily benefits of Step 10 — peace, clarity, stronger faith, and freedom
