Sunday Devotion - Abiding in God's Love

“If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.” John 15:10 (ESV)

Jesus connects obedience with abiding in God's love. He isn’t saying we earn His love by doing the right things. Instead, obedience keeps us close to Him. When we follow His guidance, we remain in the place where His love, peace, and wisdom shape our lives. Jesus also reminds us that He lived the same way with the Father—walking in obedience and trust.

In recovery, it can be tempting to rely on willpower or our own plans. But lasting change comes from staying connected to Christ and following His guidance one step at a time. When we obey His leading—whether that means pausing before eating, turning to prayer, or choosing honesty—we remain in His love instead of drifting toward old patterns.

Lord, thank You for Your constant love. Help me stay close to You today. Give me the willingness to follow Your guidance and trust that Your ways lead to life and peace. When I am tempted to rely on my own strength, remind me to abide in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
