In this podcast episode of Reshape and Recover, I shared my personal journey of weight loss, prompted by a visit to the doctor who recommended losing weight for health reasons. Overcoming yo-yo dieting, weight loss and recovery from overeating was found through the 12 Steps, with the help of God. I share the diet plan provided by my doctor, and the process of trial and error in learning to manage eating habits. I also share the significant impact of hearing stories from Alcoholics Anonymous, which helped me recognize the addictive nature of certain foods. With persistence and support from the community, I have maintained a healthy weight since 2008, through continuous learning and relying on God's guidance.
The episode also discusses the importance of mindfulness and prayer in maintaining recovery, referencing Psalm 46:10, "Be still and know that I am God," as a source of comfort and strength. There is value in taking breaks to reset mentally and spiritually, using deep breathing and scripture to stay grounded.
We encourage you to seek God's will in your recovery journey, remain committed to the process, and support each other within the community. Tony concludes with a prayer for strength and blessings in overcoming compulsive eating behaviors and finding joy in a healthy lifestyle.
