Sunday Devotion

Open Bible, coffee, and scripture: Psalm 119:105 "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."
God's word is a lamp for our feet and light for our path!

You Have Come to Mount Zion, based on Hebrews 12:18, 22–24 NIV

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the weight of trying to measure up? Maybe you’ve looked at your struggles — with food, with emotions, with sin — and felt like you were standing before a mountain too holy, too perfect, too intimidating to even approach.

That was Mount Sinai. A place of trembling, thunder, and fear. A place that reminded people just how far they fell short of God’s holiness.

But this passage reminds us — that’s not where we stand anymore.

Because of Jesus, you have come to Mount Zion. Not a place of fear, but of joyful assembly. Not a place of fire and distance, but a heavenly city where your name is already written. You are part of the church of the firstborn — not because of what you’ve done, but because of what Jesus has done.

He is the mediator of a new covenant — a relationship based not on perfection, but on grace. Through His sacrifice, you are welcomed into God’s presence, not pushed away. You don’t have to earn your way in. You don’t have to hide your mess or fix yourself first.

You belong — right now — in the joyful, eternal celebration of heaven.

Let this change how you approach your day. Whether you’re making food choices, facing stress, or battling old patterns, remember: you’re not coming to a mountain of fear. You’re walking with Jesus, your mediator, toward a future that’s already secure.

Reflection Question:

What would change today if you believed you were already part of God’s heavenly city — secure, accepted, and surrounded by grace?

Prayer:

Father, thank You that I don’t have to earn my way to You. Thank You for Jesus, who made a way for me to come freely and confidently into Your presence. Remind me today that I belong to You, and help me live from that truth — with peace, courage, and joy. Amen.
