An open Bible on a wooden table, a green teacup, and a lamp create a warm ambiance. Text: Psalm 119:105, "Your word is a lamp for my feet..."

Trusting the God Who Provides

Scripture: Luke 12:22–24 (NIV) Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!”

How often do we catch ourselves worrying about what we will eat — or not eat?

For many of us, food has become more than nourishment; it’s tied to emotion, comfort, even identity. Yet Jesus reminds us that life is more than food. He calls us to shift our focus from our fears to His faithfulness.

When Jesus said, “Consider the ravens,” He wasn’t just making a poetic point. Ravens were seen as unclean, ordinary birds — yet God takes care of them daily. They don’t hoard, plan, or stress, but they never go without. If God provides for them, how much more will He provide for you — His beloved child?

In recovery from overeating, this truth is freeing. When we feel anxious about our eating choices or fear missing out, Jesus whispers, “Do not worry.” Our Father knows what we need — nourishment for the body, and peace for the soul.

He doesn’t just feed us with food; He fills us with faith. When we release control and trust His care, our cravings quiet, our hearts steady, and we begin to see food for what it truly is — a gift, not a god.

Lord, thank You for reminding me that life is more than food. Help me to trust You with every need — physical, emotional, and spiritual. Just as You care for the birds, care for my heart today. Teach me to rest in Your provision and find peace in Your presence. Amen.
