Have you ever kept something to yourself because you were afraid of what someone else might think?

Maybe it's something you're ashamed of, a mistake you've made, or a struggle you've never shared with anyone.

When we struggle with compulsive overeating, shame and secrecy can become part of the cycle. We hide our eating habits, pretend everything is fine, and carry burdens we were never meant to carry alone.

But God never intended for us to live in shame.

"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed." — James 5:16 (NIV)

Step Five teaches us something important about the freedom that comes through honesty, humility, and God's grace.

Being honest about our struggles doesn't make us weak. It opens the door to healing and change.

Sometimes the things we're most afraid to share are the very things keeping us stuck.
