Why Rest Matters for Your Recovery and Well-Being

A person in a red hat sits by a lake with dense trees, wearing a backpack. "Happy Weekend" text overlay. Calm, serene setting.

I have a tendency to keep working and not slow down. But on the weekends, I intentionally shift gears — worship, a couple of trips to the pool, and an evening out with my husband. Those moments remind me how important it is to rest, reconnect, and actually enjoy life.

As we head into the weekend, I want to offer a gentle reminder I’ve had to learn myself:

Rest is not laziness — it’s part of recovery.

When we pause, we create space to hear God more clearly and make healthier choices for our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Whether you’re in a season of personal growth, healing, or simply managing life’s demands, taking time to reset is essential.

Think about one thing you can do this weekend that brings you real restoration and schedule that for your health and well-being.
