Simple Meals Can Make Healthy Eating Easier
Healthy eating doesn’t have to involve complicated recipes, hours of meal prep, or a long list of ingredients.
Last night I made a very simple dinner: ham, a sweet potato, and zucchini. The sweet potato took about six minutes in the microwave, the ham only needed to be warmed on the stovetop, and the zucchini cooked quickly in boiling water.
It wasn't fancy—but it was tasty, satisfying, and easy to prepare.
That matters to me because one of the things I’ve learned in recovery from overeating is the value of keeping things simple. When I'm tired at the end of the day, having easy foods available makes it much easier to follow my food plan than if every dinner requires a lot of preparation.
I also mention something in the video that comes up in real life: the ham I bought contains a small amount of sugar—less than one gram per serving. Although I abstain from sugary foods that trigger overeating for me, I’ve found it can be difficult to find ham with absolutely no added sugar. This particular product works for me.
Recovery isn't about making every meal perfect. For me, it's about having a plan, knowing the foods I need to abstain from, and making choices I can live with consistently.
Simple meals can be part of a sustainable recovery plan.
