What Happens When Your “Why” Isn’t Enough?

I remember sitting in my car, gripping the steering wheel, trying to talk myself out of swinging through the drive-thru… again.
I had every reason not to.
I had my why:
– I wanted to feel better.
– I wanted to lose weight.
– I wanted to honor God with my body.
But in that moment, none of it felt strong enough.
The cravings were louder than the reasons.
That was one of the moments I realized something important:
Your “why” can get you started…
But it won’t always carry you through the hard days.
Over the years — after losing 90 pounds and keeping it off for over 17 years — I’ve learned this truth:
Motivation fades. But structure, support, and spiritual strength will sustain you.
What made the difference?
✔️ A food plan that works for my body
✔️ A strong foundation in Christ
✔️ A community that doesn’t judge but understands
✔️ Accountability I could count on
✔️ Grace for when I slipped
So if you’ve been trying to rely on motivation alone — or feel like your “why” just isn’t working anymore — maybe it’s time to ask:
♦ Who is walking this journey with you?
♦ Who do you turn to when you feel weak?
♦ You're not meant to do this alone.
👉 I created The Pantry as a free place to get support, tools, and Christ-centered encouragement for this journey. When you join, you’ll get access to my Tips and Checklist to Avoid Overeating — and more.
Let’s walk this together. 💜
