What to Do When Stress Sends You to Food

Stress can hit from every direction — work, home, family — and before you know it, you’re standing in front of the fridge looking for peace.
I’ve been there too. When life feels out of control, food can seem like the one thing that brings comfort. But here’s the truth: stress doesn’t need to send you to food.
Before you reach for something to eat, tell yourself you can wait ten minutes. Take a deep breath and pray, “Lord, show me what I really need right now.”
That small pause invites God into the moment and gives your body a chance to calm down. Maybe what you need isn’t food at all — maybe it’s rest, peace, or a quiet walk to reset your mind.
💚 Philippians 4:6–7 reminds us:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
You don’t have to let stress control your day — or your choices.
God’s peace is always available, even in the middle of chaos.
