When Waiting Feels Too Long

Do you feel like you’ve been waiting forever for abstinence and weight loss?
If so, you’re not alone.
In Scripture, Abraham and Sarah waited decades for God’s promise of a son. When God finally said it would happen, Sarah laughed — not because she was rebellious, but because the waiting had been long and hope felt distant.
Yet God gently responded,
“Is anything too hard for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:14)
Waiting can wear us down — especially in recovery.
Waiting for peace around food.
Waiting for cravings to lessen.
Waiting for our bodies to respond.
But waiting does not mean God has forgotten you.
And it does not mean the promise is gone.
Sometimes the waiting is where God is strengthening our trust, deepening our dependence on Him, and doing work in us that will last far longer than quick results ever could.
If you’re in a season of waiting today, take heart.
God is faithful — even when the promise feels slow.
