"Lay your shame and guilt at the feet of Jesus, who came to live a perfect life and die an innocent death to be a ransom for all our sins, including the struggle with overeating." — Julie Kleinhans, 12 Steps to Recovery from Overeating
When it comes to food, many of us have felt completely out of control. We’ve eaten in secret, hidden food, spent money we didn’t need to spend, and then carried the heavy weight of guilt and shame. But here’s the truth: shame is not from God. He does not condemn you—He calls you His beloved child.
Step Two reminds us that we do not have to fight this battle on our own. Recovery is possible, not because we are strong enough, but because God is strong enough. He gives us the power to let go of destructive patterns and start walking a new path of freedom.
If you’ve prayed before and felt like God didn’t hear you—keep praying. He is near. And if you’ve tried diets, plans, or even surgery but still feel stuck, know this: lasting recovery comes not from willpower, but from surrendering to God’s power.
💜 Take courage today: you are not alone. With Christ, there is no shame in the struggle—only hope, healing, and a new beginning.
✝️ “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5–6
