Think About What Is Lovely

Sometimes our own negative thinking adds to our discouragement.


We overlook our small successes and focus only on our mistakes.


But God encourages us to think about things that are true, lovely, excellent, and praiseworthy.


Did you pause before eating?

Pray instead of immediately turning to food?

Eat one planned meal?

Get back on track after a difficult moment instead of giving up?


Those things matter.


Small wins build momentum.

Small wins build hope.

Small wins remind us that change is happening — even if it feels slow.


That’s one reason I stress encouraging each other by sharing our small wins.


It’s not bragging.


Sometimes your small victory becomes encouragement and hope for someone else who is struggling.


Many people fighting food struggles spend so much time focusing on what went wrong that they completely miss what God is helping them do right.


“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

— Philippians 4:8


Recovery is not about perfection.

It’s about continuing to move forward one decision at a time with God’s help.
